I have used versions of this software that ran on Windows 95. I have been was a loyal Intuit customer since the mid-1990’s. You may say that I’m just using hyperbole. I’d even go so far as to say that I’d put Quicken 2007 against Quicken versions from the 90’s. It’s the ugly cousin of the fabulous Windows versions. In retrospect it would have been far less aggravating and frustrating if I’d just bit the bullet and spent the extra cash to do exactly that.Īs a software application, Quicken 2007 For Mac has always been a dud.

In my defense, I wasn’t going to purchase a Windows license + virtual machine software just to run one piece of software. The worst mistake I made when I moved to the Mac platform was going entirely native and giving up Quicken for Windows. Significant learning curve, lack of functionality and lose of my data means Intuit is 0 for 2. In addition to the retraining/learning curve to adapt to using Mint.Com I should mention that all of my valuable historic data from Quicken 2007 For Mac can not be imported into Mint.Com. And, being forced would just make it worse.

Nobody, myself included, expects for a company to support old code forever. It’s older than some of my friends’ kids. It just makes for a fun and salacious headline. Every function I use has worked flawlessly, and I would never know that anything had changed.* I still do not have any evidence that they hate puppies. I have never used the more extended functions of Quicken Deluxe, which was probably wasted money anyway.

I use Quicken to track credit card and checking accounts, download transactions, and reconcile them, and to track securities and their prices. This is in contrast, I'll point out, to a few hours' banging my head against Lion, trying to get Apple Mail to open, and to read my Mail files, eventually solved by helpful tips from elsewhere in Apple Community. I bought Quicken 2007 for Lion online, downloaded, opened the application, and have had My backup plan, in case it didn't work, was to use the Mac G5 from which I ported everything, to keep the Quicken flame alive until I could find a fix- and the time to work on it. But since it wasn't too expensive, and it offered the possibility of continued use of my extensive Quicken data, I bought it. I just got a 27" iMac with Lion, and I was reluctant to buy the Quicken 2007 software for Lion after reading these and other posts. I've been using Quicken for 20 years on the Mac, and probably another 5 or 6 before that on DOS.
